Does it matter what you wear for a workout?
Yes it does! The phrase “dress for success” also applies in the domain of sport and exercise.
The clothing you choose influences your performance and workout efficiency. The clothes you wear for a workout can make a difference in how you feel after exercise. So here are few tips to choosing workout clothes;
1. FABRIC – Workout clothes come in a variety of materials. Some are designed to pull sweat away from your skin during exercise and others absorb it. Clothing made out of fabrics containing polypropylene is a good choice for activities in which you’re likely to sweat a lot. Cotton may be less comfortable because it stays wet longer. Also avoid fabrics that don’t breathe.
2. COMFORT – When buying workout clothes, ensure you’re getting the right fit. The clothes should fit your body and the specific workout they are designed for. Avoid very tight, restrictive clothes and those that gets in the way of your activity.
3. SEASONS – Workout clothes change with the seasons. You have to keep this in mind when deciding on workout clothing especially if you workout outdoors in the cold seasons. Dress in layers that you can take off as you warm up. Keep sweat wicking clothing on your inner layer.
