Bra Fitting Checklist

This is a quick checklist to help you determine if you have a well fitting bra.  First, we need to understand the different parts of a Bra.

BRA FIT CHECKLIST

  • Straps: Straps should be comfortable and stay in place
  • Cups: Cups should be smooth without no wrinkles and spillage. The breast tissues should fill the cups without bulging over. The edges should lay flat against your body. A well fitting cup should uplift with your breasts facing forward and positioned mid-way between your shoulders and elbow.
  • Band: The band is part that goes around the body. The band provides up to 80% of a Bra’s support. The band should stay parallel to the floor and lay flat around your body and should be positioned at the breast level. The band should not ride up to form an arc. The band should be snug, but not uncomfortable. Quick test, if more than 2 fingers can fit under the elastic, the band is too big.
  • Underwire: The underwire should not poke or dig into the ribcage and should not be uncomfortable.  The underwire is there to support the cups, it should fit flat against the skin and should not cause any pain whatsoever.
  • Centre Gore or Front: This part should lay flat against your skin.
